Ground blind shoot thru mesh

Post by SniperWolf »

Hey all. Just wondering if anyone here using ground blinds ever actually shot through the mesh windows and if so how was it? I use broad heads not mechanicals. I would think that the accuracy would be thrown off a bit. Am I wrong?

I have not myself but my brother and nephew have shot several turkeys out to 30 yards shooting thru the mesh on a DB Matrix blind. Using fixed heads they have not had any problems at all on POI changing.

It makes perfect sense that anything striking your arrow between your launch and the intended target, has the ability to make your point of impact move. That may be negative or positive. Your arrow is intended to fly unobstructed until it hits what you aimed at.

I have zero faith in "shoot through windows". Maybe I am wrong. Just my opinion. I will not take the chance.

Several years ago I had a deer come in on the wrong side of my blind. Had the small window open and the mesh in place over the window.
I never even thought about the mesh.
Hit right where I was aiming and got the deer, but as I remember it was only a 7 or 8 yard shot. Can't remember which broadhead I was using, but it was a fixed blade - either a Wac'Em Exit, or a G-5 Montec.

i use fixed blade and have gotten 2 deer with mesh down, a 12 pace kill and a thirty pace kill did not seem to effect accuracy. :o
better an overkill than an underkill

I had no issues with my Montec but my G5 T3's didn't like the mesh very well, had one blade open and it missed its target, but that was 5 yrs ago, maybe the T3's are better now but i'll stick to Montec's when it comes to mesh. Have not tried the Spitfire Maxx or Ulmer Edge through mesh yet and don't think I will.

I've had no issue shooting 20&30 yard shots thru the mesh on my blind. That was with the y25 and slick tricks.

I have shot through the mesh many times killing deer, turkey and hogs etc have never had a problem except with a non fixed broadhead and it sure keeps the bugs out . But i would watch for rain freezing on it. Take your blind out set it up and try it you will feel better about it that is what i did years ago.

My opinion as well. Why take the chance. 99% of the time it might be fine. But yo know the 1% will happen when the biggest buck of your life is standing out there.
