Opening day and a doe on the ground

Post by Hester0305 »

Took a doe this morning with my Matrix 320 at about 10 yards. I had a 3 point directly under my stand and the doe was standing looking away from me to my left when I shot her in the spine and she dropped like a rock. The QAD Exodus buried to the Blazer vane and lodged in the shoulder. I took a picture of the QAD Exodus after I retrieved the arrow the blades looked great other than some meat and blood on them. I cleaned the broadhead and changed the blades out and put by # 1 arrow back in the quiver hopefully for another one soon. I love Slick Tricks but I wanted to try this Exodus out since they both shoot the same POI out to 40 yards.

I saw 4 deer in all and a small bear cub which I came eye to eye with at about 30 yards when I came down out of the tree.

I'm taking my wife this afternoon to one of our double ladder stands maybe she'll get a shot at one.

Nice job!

I'm jealous....I didn't get to shoot at anything this weekend. Pretty warm over here...

Thanks everyone I hope my wife can put her 1st deer down this afternoon. She's ready with her Pink Vixen, she shot right before dark yesterday afternoon at our 3 D animals and was putting them right in there out to 35 yards.

I'm sure she'll do fine.
One of these days I gotta convince my wife to take an interest in hunting. She has trouble killing a fly so it's gonna be a toughy.

We can kill 6 deer 2 of them can be bucks, I don't kill small bucks anymore I just let them grow and take does to eat. I get a chance at an occasional wall hanger every now and then and maybe a bear.
