I was thinking of updating an older Vixen with dissipator bars. They can be had for about $35 new, on eBay. Someone wiser than me told me once to ditch the set I have on my Equinox because they basically don't work and add weight.
I find my Vixen, even with a quality Flemish string, buzzes louder than the thud I get with my m380.
What do you think? Are they worth it? Does the dissipator system work?

From what I have learned is the bars only weigh a few grams but they don't do a noticeable lot.
String suppressors are worth the money though!

None of my Excals wear them. If'en yer Vixen is new enuff & you like the S5 system fer the few$ diff go & the dacron flemish string makes them a softer shot noise & i use abit heavier arrow weight than the 325gr allowed to get the rated fps wid the optional string that won't work on mine

One of the first things I did to my Phoenix was remove the DBs.
They reduce noise/vibration some, but not enough to really be important to me.
Same story with the strong stoppers. They change the twang to a thud, but I tried and then removed them, too.
A flemish string and "catwhiskers" on a fastflight string are about the only changes I make to reduce noise/vibration. With a dacron flemish string I don't even bother adding the catwhiskers.

I look at them as added insurance but notice noise is reduced with them and Limbsavers on the inside of the limbs.

X2. I first put S5's on my Vortex so both were on there. Not enough difference to get excited about. Removed the Dbars and again nothing big. Removed the S5's and started using a 1-1/8" reference mark on the riser, using FFF string. Accuracy got better. I got best reduction in noise and vibration when I started using heavier arrows.

You bow is basically 'unprotected' in case of dryfire. Do everything you can to keep from having one. If you've had a bow 'spontaneously disassemble' close to your face (I have) you'd know why.
