Do the R.E.D.S. make a difference for the 355?

Post by Amrap »

I just bought a Matrix 355 and I know everyone says don't worry about the loudness of the shot, but I'm worrying about it. My season starts on Oct. 1st and am wanting to quiet my bow some. Any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks

REDS do help, but it is still going to be loud. The deafest Deer in the Woods is going to hear most crossbows being fired in a 100yard radius. :)

IMO a deer with an arrow through it will not worry about how loud your bow was. I put stops on mine for my benefit while shooting targets.

My last bow was a Martin Jaguar and that was flinging'em at around 230fps while twice as loud as newer verticals. Needless to say I love the increase in speed on my 355. I am just not used to the sound yet. I just have the deer hunting itch and want to make sure everything is in order, thanks for the input.

I think the cat whisker help more than any thing else but fuzzy is right on the other points too.
I have the s5s on my exocet..took em off for hunting..why?
I like to trim all the weight off I can. and I see no need for them to hunt .
keep your shots 30 yards and under. the deer (unless its already on alert) will never know what hit it

By the time the deer hears the twang from the 355 it's over for him! The 355 is smokin fast!
