First crossbow today!

Post by bobcattrapper »

The brown truck brought me a new toy today.I bought a Axiom crossbow kit from Cabela's.I put it all together using the DVD it came with and I'm now all set to hunt Grizzly! Been reading the forum so thought I'd join now.And we know Excalibur makes the best crossbow! I can't wait to shoot it.I got me the yellow jacket crossbow rated bag to shoot at and somemore arrows and I got 3 boltcutters.

Congrats on a great bow. However I might start out hunting somthing that would'nt eat me if my arrow placement on the first try was'nt dead nutz perfect. But hey maybe I'm just too much the cautious type.

Well I shot about 100 bolts this morning. I didn't really want to shoot that many but.....right off the bat it looked like I had scope problems.I could get 2 or 3 to shoot great and then one would go like 18" off!! Not new to scopes so yes I tighten all the stuff really good.I did not want to crush my scope as my hands are strong.Anyway Excalibur stands by there product for sure.It was determined it probably was not a bow issue but I could send it in. So I ended up upgrading my scope to the next better one plus new rings.I sent the scope off to Woodys today. As soon as he gets it I will be mailed my new scope and rings.I really hope this cure the problem I was having.I think it will.I tried not to shoot the same bolt and stuff too.The rope cocking aid is pretty nice. But my back is a little sore now.But I did shoot it lots.It is fun and the yellow jacket target is great!!!Easy to pull the bolts out.So I hope by the end of next week I have my new scope and I can dial it in and be all set! One thing I did not like about the scope I had and maybe my upgrade will too?? Is the friction adj. long before the click.Never seen a scope like that. Its either one way or the other.Friction adj. or clicks. Thanks for the welcome. :D
