Looking at the description of each I don't see much difference.
Both are great bows.
Only difference I see is in the style of stock.
I'm sure some owners of these will chime in.

I had the same dilemma when I was comparing the two .I just kept shouldering both to see which felt more comfy.Ultimately I chose the Ibex because the thumbhole stock just felt better to me.The stocks are the only difference.

If it were my choice for a 175 lb Ecal it would be a Phoenix. I don't like the composite rails on the Axiom and Ibex.

I just bought the Axiom and realy like it.The extra 50 bucks for the Ibex cost I chose to buy 6 more Excalibur bolts. In the pics it does look like the Ibex has a camo quiver as well as a thumbhole stock as the others have said.Do you really like a thumbhole stock better? Thats your choice lol

I say shoulder both and only you will know what style you prefer. As for specs they are identical. So it's a traditional stock verses a thumb. I prefer the traditional do to the amount of shooting I do with rifles. As for the composite I think they are great. All rails are guaranteed for life. I think the composite is more slick and easier on strings or serving, I also think the composite is more forgiving if it ever was bent for some reason. Like the aluminum the composite is as tough as nails. If you don't like the look of the black SMF rail a Phoenix is your next option. Again I prefer the composite but that's my opinion. I have owned the Phoenix and the Axiom and would take the Axiom with the SMF.

I am shooting a Vortex from a Summit Viper stand. I can't imagine not having the thumbhole stock using a climbing stand. It gives me something to grab onto when pulling the bow up cocked. It gives me something to stick a finger in to hold onto it when I am standing up or sitting back down. It gives me a tad more stability when shooting offhand.

Do I give the impression that I like the thumbhole stock? :?:

Well I went with the Axiom, picked up some BAT broadheads, 6pak of fire bolts and the S5 suppression system.
All awesome except the bolts included with the suppression system are too small for the holes on the bow. Anyone offer some, etc insight to this?
Thanks

It's not the model name that makes it a good crossbow, it's the brand name ("Excalibur") that means quality.
