AM or PM?

Post by Galgo »

Do you prefer to hunting i the am or PM. Up until this year I always preferred morning. I really enjoy seeing the woods come to life each day. Shapes become objects, birds sing with a joy of seeing a new day and critters of all shapes and sizes go about their business of survival.

This year though my trail cameras showed allot more activity during the dusk hours than dawn. I have focused on dusk hunting and seen more deer than I have in several years combined.

The only other thing that I like about the afternoon sit is that its not as cold. Hows about you?

Either is fine. Since I work, I hunt a lot of afternoons. I am not particularly fond of shooting a deer at last light and blood trailing in the dark, but it is what it is. That is one benefit of the morning. You have lots of light to track by.

I take whatever time I can get out.

Don't like the idea of shooting something at last light, but if that's what I get then that's good.

I've always preferred mornings but I do both and mainly hunt when I can. I like having the option to stay all day if I choose, plus if you do get lucky you have more time and daylight to track and retrieve your game if necessary.

well im quite the morning person, nothing like waking up early having a cup of joe watching some sportscenter and hitting the woods! and like others stated plenty of time to find your deer if things go awry.

Both for me. But I have better luck in the evenings. I understand deer behaviour far better during the day than their night ritual.
I won't give up mornings though, something about seeing the sun come up in the bush makes my whole day better.
My best luck over the years, is mid afternoon.

Both, but evenings only on weekdays (have to take my son to school in the mornings).
I've killed most of my deer in the evenings, but frequently it means tracking, field dressing, and hauling out in the dark.

Its better to hunt either eve or morn than waking up or laying down and feeling guilty about not having been out in mother nature and enjoying all her majesty
