shot a nice doe with my Axiom!

Post by bobcattrapper »

Yup yesterday evening. :D I saw a button buck from my stand. Then nothing for quite awhile.Cept squirrels  I used my primos lil can call a few times too. Then when I felt it was a good time cause nothing was around I turned the lil can I think 3 times. This was after I peed off my stand too so that may of helped too!Less then a minute out of nowhere here come at least 3 does.I think there may have been a couple more but too many trees to see in that spot. I had my eyes on a big doe from my treestand. As I was doing that another big one started to make the way to my right through the trees. Then I had a clear shot so I made my special sound to make her stop. She did but a small twig was in my way  So I let her walk a few more steps and I made her stop again. She did and I put a excaliber bolt right through her lungs.About 18 yds.She bolted and all of them ran quickly.I waited about 15 min.I was running out of daylight and wanted to track her.Blood right away. But not a real heavy trail.I followed it about 40 yds and really had to look real hard to see any blood. Then no blood trail at all.I tried real hard to find some but did not see a drop! So I finally relied on my own skills and from the help of the Lord I walked in some thick brush to a opening and there she lay!Total she went about 80 yrds. She is all cut up now and in my freezer.I have shot lots of deer over the years but this crossbow stuff has finally put some excitement back into the hunt for me.I have 2 really cool picks of where she dropped but I don't know how to post a pic.I could email someone them if they would post it for me.I should say the only thing I did not like was a good solid double lung hit and not much of a blood trail I am using the 150gr boltcutters.Yes they do the job but I hope this is not the normal.By looking at the pic you would think she bled a ton.She did but internally.Oh I never did find my bolt.As far as I know its still going

Congrats!! Where did you hit her? In the back part of the lungs or front? Did she bleed out of her nose?
