New To Forum and Xbow Hunting

Post by Crossbow 355 »

Hi every one. just wanted to let everyone on this forum know I have been reading posts on here for several months trying to learn as much as I can about crossbows and crossbow hunting. I have been a vertical bowhunter and muzzleloader hunter for over 40 years but age has caught up to me. After losing the first 3 deer I shot this season in Georgia I realized my eyes and shoulder cannot take shooting a vertical bow any more. My vision being the main problem when I focused on the deer I had double pins and when I focused on the pins with my bifocals, the deer was a blur. I found the problem went away when looking through the scope on my muzzleloader so I thought of using a crossbow. while researching crossbows I found this forum and was hooked before ever buying one just from reading of the experiences shared on this forum. I am mainly a meat hunter and was very discouraged at how my season was going this year. I purchased a Matrix 355 2 weeks ago (ordered a Boo string, and called Dan Miller and ordered his rbbb string suppressor) at the same time, I also purchased a used Vortex for my son. I feel it's an understatement to say my season has changed drastically ever since, I have been in the woods 4 times since setting up my bow and my son has been with me 2 of those times I am 4 for 4 on 3 does and an 8pt and my son has taken 2 does and a 6pt. with 1 miss. I feel a lot of the credit for this unusual success should go to the members of this forum as if not for the fellowship of you all I was resigning my self to the fact my bowhunting days were just about over. thank you all. sorry it this post was longer than I expected I'm a little long winded.

Sounds like you are doing well and happy with your choice of Xbows. No need to pull up a chair. Sounds like the chair has already found a home.
Welcome.

I live in Carrollton (40 miles west of Atlanta) But hunt the West Point Corps of Engineers public land (500miles of shoreline) usually by boat to get to the places most can't by car or walking (no atv's allowed)

yes we have been pretty lucky the past 2 weeks. we got lots of trail cam pictures prior to season but deer disappeared mostly until the white oak acorns started falling and now they are everywhere you find acorns. Starting to see buck sign showing up so I'm hoping luck still holds up a while longer.
