Indeed it does. I had a doe decide to scratch its ear with its hind hoof just as I pulled the trigger with my ExoMax. I got lucky. The arrow ricocheted off of the hoof and struck the deer in the neck with a 2" cut Rocket Hammerhead. I wasn't aiming anywhere near the neck, but that is what I hit. In my case the results were devastating.Mister B wrote:My dad shot a fallow doe once that chose the moment of release to look back. His arrow hit similar to the above. Poo poo happens.
Wabi, did you ever figure out what caused the scope setting to change?wabi wrote:Unfortunately things like that can also happen to careful hunters.![]()
I had one run off with an arrow imbedded in it's shoulder a few years ago.
Scope failure!![]()
I had even taken a practice shot to check the bow before the hunt!
After the bad hit I went straight to the shooting bench and found the POI had shifted several inches high & slightly right which was exactly where I hit the deer in relation to my aim.
Made me re-think my hunting ethics/practices, and although it was not preventable I still felt bad about it.
It's a chance we take anytime we pull the trigger, so give it some thought!
Odds are it will never happen to you, but it's always a possibility!
I had 2 TenPoint and one Excal (Vari-Zone) scope all do the same thing. Sight in, be fine for weeks or months, then suddenly the POI would jump several inches. I could re-adjust the scope(s) and the same thing would happen again within a short time. I might be able to shoot a few good groups then suddenly POI would jump several inches.Lake shooter wrote:

The first was article on many News Outlets yesterday Fax etc, This is the link to that story: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/11/05/ne ... latestnewsPeacemaker wrote:I agree wholeheartedly with the premise of the thread....and I am sure that those photos were legitimately found on the web....but I'm wondering if they might have been photoshopped at some point. Aside from tv shows and movies, how often do we see arrows stopped mid-shaft, when there is no longer any resistance on the wider broadhead?
Apologies to the original poster if they came directly from his camera, and again I agree with the point of the thread....but I question the integrity of the photos....
OH MY....that my friends is nasty.Mister B wrote:Go to Google Images and type in 'Arrow in Deer head'
Lots of gruesome photos there. Look for the one with the arrow in the man's if you have a tight rectal sphincter.
