O/T Annual black powder hunt 2013

Post by Carnivorous »

We had a great week of Black powder hunting. Me and 5 friends get together for the annual hunt & this year was full of good times in the old cabin. We harvested 4 nice deer (2 bucks & 2 doe) & had few clean misses but all in all a good time. One of the hunters got his first deer (a buck) & he is 56 years young!

Me with the doe I got Monday & the 7 point Buck I got on Thursday.

Congrats on a great hunt. It is always nice to hear of hunters firsts and the good ole tradition of the hunt camp and fun times and just getting away from the every day garbage in the city.

What magic gun/load combination were you using to put the hurting on those deer?

I use my stainless TC Omega muzzleloader with 100 gr 777 loose powder with the Hornady 300gr xtp bullet. I have had great results with this combo. With good shot placement the deer go down quickly with huge blood trails or they drop on the spot!
