Wow not good ......

Post by taz3 »

Looks like the gun registry is still alive and well, behind closed doors. Hopefully this gets resolved quickly. It's hard to respect law breakers, it's worse when they are supposed to be enforcing the laws.

There is no registry, it simply is not possible.
If the police want to determine if there is a possibility of firearms they simply have to see who has a PAL. Way too many guns have changed hands on a private level to have a reliable registry.

As PYD mentioned, I blew the registry out of my household 2 month's after it was done by buying and selling 9 gun's to and from individual's. That and bought 2 gun's for my buddy just so his wife doesnt find out...lol I'm bad I know!!!

Ya, not in a literal sense, they are now using other information as Pyd has posted. It's sad how hunters are targeted, I've been around hunting guns and rifles all my and have never known anyone to shot by one (not that it doesn't happen), yet I have seen 2 people shot with illegal hand guns and know of too many others where I grew up in the city.

I have since traded or sold all registered firearms so there would be no record of the guns I now own in any system.
Sounds like the RCMP and GOV over stepped it's bounds again

Rough time flooding. Wish folks well.
Bad enough having authorities peeking in my underwear drawer. Taking my weapons would be an great offence. Handling them alone would be also.
Don,t suppose they would allow citizens surprise visits to there own wives underwear drawers and let their weapons be fondled?
I joke, but know its a fine line and my chance of such a visit is very possible.
Like these flood victims it will likely feel like I been robbed by those I thought were looking out for my property.

Those searches were overseen by the RCMP, but conducted by a lot of civilians. Many (involved in the searches) have spoke up on other forums as to what their mission was, and for the most part, it wasn't as intrusive as some are led to believe.
It sucks, but I am sure it will work out in the end.
With a federal order to return the firearms, there will be a lot of claims, if it is not handled correctly, and a lot of claims even if it was.

Someone gets left behind after the evacuation, blame the police for not checking every house. The police check every house and remove firearms in plain sight so looters don't take them, blame the police for entering every house.

If the guns were stored properly, and not laying about on tables or leaning in corners, they were left alone. Most of the complaints are relating to property damage as a result of police entry, and have nothing to do with firearms. I wouldn't worry about any alleged connections to the firearms registration.

From what I gathered, they were instructed to remove firearms in plain sight, but not to open doors or drawers.
Problem is, it was a flood. Most people store their guns in the basement, and natural instinct would be to bring them to an elevated position prior to evacuation, like a main floor room, likely on the bed. And that is where things went wrong.
I can see why they wanted to ensure the safety of the city by doing door to door inspections, it isn't right, but it screams "Canada".
It was not about removing valuables from looters, otherwise they would have taken TV's too. It was wrong to steal guns, and that is exactly what they did. In the long run, the firearm owners will prevail over this situation.

What the RCMP did was totally wrong and Illegal plain and simple. They can say it was for our protection ect ect and make excuses. What they have done is wrong plain and simple and should be made to pay for any and all damages done to private property and all Rifles and guns should be returned to the respectable owners and the RCMP should be charged and sent to jail to whom ever gave the order. If not I could see a multi million dollar law suit.

It is time we Canadians should stand up to this communist organization and tell this dam Government to SCREW OFF with our right to own!!!! feel like we are living in a non democratic society and living in a socialist communist country!!!
What is it that the government needs to know every little detail about us what we own and what we have? are they afraid we might do something to be bigger and better?

I hope the people of the area affected get their due rights done in court. That is disgusting to have a break and enter and damage done to your own home.

Unfortunately the judge are also to a certain point controlled by the government .This is why it is so hard to fight it in court. RCMP are a very political corrupted rotten police force.
