Kitchener and area folks

Post by wheelie »

Are you getting a storm down there or something? My family has been texting me. Missed us this time. Be safe and hope a tree don't fall on you. Guess when you read this your power will be back on.

We are very fortunate this time - our end of the street still has power. Most of our street lost power this morning at about 4 a.m. and it's still not back on yet.

The air is filled with the sound of ice falling off the trees, generators & chainsaws running. There were a number of accidents in the region this morning, but most of the main roads are in good shape now.

Stay safe everyone!

Power has been out since yesterday morning. Lists few trees and lots of branches.
Fortunately we have a genset on the house for the essencials.

We got it here also, but most fell as ice pellets thankfully , but I thought it was going to be a repeat of 98, we had no power for 2 weeks that time

We had fog and rain and it took all of our snow away. We never lost any power at all. There is only a few spots here and there in the woods that I can see looking out my windows where there is little piles of snow. Unless we get some snow around here it is going to be a green Christmas. I hate a green Christmas.
I send all of you without power my prayers and my thoughts for you all to be safe and sound and to have a very Merry Christmas.

My heart goes out to those who were impacted by the ice storm.

My yard after the 2007 Ice Storm here in NE Oklahoma.

I only lost power for 2 days. Some folks out in the country lost power for a few weeks or more.

Take care folks and stay safe, we got just a taste of it at the bottom of Lake Simcoe, so I can't imagine what you folks are dealing with on the front lines, south west!

I remember seeing the pics from down east of the numerous metal high tension towers folding like pretzels. Thankfully that did'nt happen again.

Oh ya, I forgot that, miles of huge high tension towers just crumpled to the ground from the weight of the ice, was impressive to see. It would take me over an hour every morning to get into my car because the entire car would be coated in soooo much ice, and when I finally got in I would have to run it another 40min to try and heat up the windows to have a chance at getting the ice off to see, and when I finally got driving it felt like I was driving a tank because the car was so heavy with ice, pretty crazy times.

Texted Boo yesterday. Sounds like he got hit hard by the storm and is still without power. Will be a birthday he remembers for long while I bet.
