Matrix 380 Assembly

Post by Jeff.buma »

I recently assembled a Matrix 380 and had a question on the 2 screws supplied with the bow to secure limb assembly to the stock/deck.

The threaded allen screws are different lengths. There is no issue with the smaller screw, however the larger screw is visible and protrudes into the channel intended for arrow fletching

The limb assembly has been tightly secured to the stock.

My concern - when the arrow is released, fletching will hit the screw and arrow trajectory/accuracy will be compromised.

Below are a couple images:

Both riser/mainframe 5/16 screws should be exactly 1 3/4" long. Are you using the round washers underneath? One screw is obviously too long and will cause fletch clearance problems. If it was me I would grind it down flush (if you want to use it now) and add a bit of paint to prevent rust. Then, call Excalibur and ask for a replacement screw because during the screw manufacturing phase one longer one may have slipped in accidently.

Thanks for the responses. I am using the washers provided - both are the same size. Excalibur Customer Service is back from Christmas break on 6-Jan-14 - and I will give them a call.

Limb bolts and riser to rail bolts are different lengths.

Are the washers both the same size and dimension? Are the round pocket cutouts the same depth? What about the screws, are they both the same length when you stand them together? Something is off here. BTW, the screws that hold the limbs to riser are 5/16 x 1.5"

Good luck trying to get replacement screws...four requests to get the correct longer screws which hold the stock to the bow section and each time smaller screws were sent....they were sent from their USA warranty company...they were great however in returning my money...I would have rathered the bolts however...

Whoever you call MAKE SURE that it is clear what you need.

4 times replacement screws were sent and all 4 times they were too short? I find that hard to believe really.

...you know what I exaggerated (honest apologies):

1. First time I ordered 4 screws and washers (only 2 of each the correct size came in),

2. I called...received two washers (correct and two smaller screws incorrect),

3. I called...again received four washers and the same two smaller screws,

4. I called...emailed and explained....decision was to reimburse me for the the entire order...which WAS acceptable to me...although I really wanted to have two sets of extra screws and washers in case I dropped in the field assembling the xbow....just not sure why this was so difficult!
