Should I be worried about noise

Post by MC45 »

Got an ibex for Christmas and have been shooting it. I knew coming from vertical that noise would be increased but for those of you who have hunted with an ibex did you quieten it or hunt with it as is?

I am very happy with quality and accuracy

The people like myself who play around with their bows to quiet them down are mostly just doing it for themselves, not because it interferes with hunting. You will never get it quiet that an animal can't hear it, but you can reduce the crack sound to a more dull thud with less vibration through the bow.

I don't worry about noise. I keep my shots to maximum 30 yards and if the animal I am shooting heard anything there is already a hole through it.

If you're concerned about noise aim for the heart or low heart. If the animal doesn't jump the string you still have a heart shot, If it does you'll have a high double lung at
the worst. Either way it's meat in the freezer.

Myself I do not worry about the noise of my Equinox. Sound travels at about 1125/' sec and the CB arrow travels lets say at 300'/ sec so that a deer at 30 yards would have about 1/4 sec to react before impact. Like someone else said just enjoy your hunting.
