I am in my late 60's a Lady never tells her any one her age. Bad back and no cartilage in both knees. If I can't use my 4 wheeler or did not take it to where I was hunting that night I call my lifter (next door neighbour) Guy is stronger than a Clydesdale horse, all he asks is which farm are you at and where are you. Been my lifter for years. He always makes him self available when I ask him and his wife just laughs.

The 60 club is knockin on my door........I'm 59 and 333/365's today

Actually can't wait to be called a senior citizen and get a discount at the liquor store (JK). I smartened up over the last 15 years. Lifestyle was not what it was today. Liquor tab is at an all time low and I exercise...........really! Was diagnosed with degenerative disk disease many years ago. Put my back out on many occassions.....once while hunting........barely made it back home before I flopped on the bed and stayed there for a week.......peeing in a bottle cause I couldn't get up. Fast forward and I run marathons now. Ran my first ultramarathon at 50.......125kms (76 miles). Still run lots........but as far as hunting goes, I hunt for sheep in the mountains and carrying a 75lb pack is not unusual hiking in to make a base camp. I could not have done that at 40 years old. Hunt frequently in wilderness parks where foot traffic is only permitted. I'm not a horse guy so it's my feet that do the walkin'. Hauled many a moose out on my back and on game carts. Game carts are a blessing but you have to have a way of hauling them through dead fall and other obstacles. You need a trail to use them on. Also use a big sled tha I use for ice fishing to haul out animals on snow covered ground..........man is that a workout. Something I have to do is get my kids and grandkids out hunting so they can take this ole fella out when he can't do it any more himself. Had cancer twice the past 10 years..................I tell ya, the good Lord is my keeper. Give me an Amen!

I'm only 64, but having had a couple spinal fractures and a pinched nerve I have a bit of discomfort walking long distances or carrying heavy weights.
I just ask John (Deere) to help get them out.

John belongs to the landowner where I hunt and if he (the landowner) is home all it takes a cell phone call for help. He hunts, too, so it also works both ways.
Come deer season the carrier is mounted and John is parked it the garage where he stays dry & ready to help!

I had quadruple heart surgery last year at age 64. This year I finally broke down and bought a deer cart after having to get a younger friend to help me drag out my first doe. The cart worked like a charm when I killed my second doe hunting by myself. Getting old is hell......

Fourwheeler. 71yo here. If I can't drag it onto the back rack, I simply tie a rope around the horns or head, raise it to the back rack, tie it and boogie. Did three that way this year, BTW all Excal harvested too.....eh eh eh

I'm turning 50 shortly so not too old but not 19 anymore either.

For the easy ones I use the toboggan and attach the pull rope to a "D" ring at the centre of my back on commercial a fall arrest harness.

If it's going to be a longer recovery I try to use the UTV:

If It's somewhere bad and I need a trail blazed I use this:

Boo wrote:At 60 I find that I should not compress my spine or else I'll be living with excrutiating pain for a week. This year I had to drag 2 deer up a pretty steep embankment a couple of hundred feet. It may not see like much but it would have done my back in. In the past I would put a rope over my shoulder and pull but placing the rope around my waist made all the difference.
I saw an add last year for a roll up poylethelene sheet to drag a deer out with. I think that's a great idea and I'll try it next time I get a chance.
Almost my exact answer, except next month I'll be 68. I can drag them out. Still in good shape. Aerobic exercise and a Kobota help.

I'm 39 and have limited time to "work out" like I used to but I have developed a good full body workout this winter by snowshoeing while dragging my 80 pounds worth of daughters in my icefishing sled for an hour- or two once or twice a week so if I keep up with this when I'm older they will really give me a workout!!!

I really like dragging to where I can use the Honda rubicon and farm trailer, it's like magic, or just the rubicon if it's really in there. Otherwise slow and steady as I dragged one 100 pounder last year with one of my knees barley attached. This year after pedaling, paddleing, walking, and hunting a lot I got 2 pretty good knees back... slow and steady either way.

At 54 I am still kickin' (just can't get my leg up as high :? ) This past season, I really had to take my time dragging out my Deer. Just not as easy as it used to be... I don't mind the work for my reward, but just would like to try to make it just a bit easier... I have seriously been thinking about one of those game carts. There are so many different types to choose from.
