Missed the 3rd

Post by Adrian J Hare »

Perry a friend showed up at daylight and off we went to a new place that we spotted a yote going into a cedar swamp. A new 1inch of snow on the icy field so it kept the noise down a little. We got set and started calling. 5 minutes into the set and 3 comes running out to the call and 2 breaks to the left going down wind of the caller. Because of the wind direction I had to shoot at a point that they were going to catch us.

The 3rd break to the right and the woods is closer to us ,but Perry didn't realize his scope was turned on 12 x and could not find it in the scope. By the time I got the two down the 3rd was gone.

this picture was at the farthest yote and you can see the male out in front and our setup was that old house passed the 2nd yote and to the top right and above the rock foundation of the barn.

Congratulations. Beautiful and healthy animals. Excellent shooting. Coyote hunting is not easy.

I missed one by a hair in December at 47 yards. He heard the crossbow release noise and the incoming arrow, and he had just enough time to swivel on his hind legs avoiding the impact. I found my arrow lodged into a tree and few strands of hair. He will be back and I will be ready.
