Hmmm? Looking at the Butler Creek website, it appears all Blizzard covers are see-through. Are you sure you don't have a Flip-up rather than a Blizzard on the front? For the Eye piece, I don't see a 5-6, only single numbers. Here's the Butler Creek Blizzard chart: (Removed - See previous chart and different type covers)

Deerstalker, do you have Blizzards or Flip-ups? The numbers you listed don't match the chart? It appears the Blizzard sizes and the Flip-up sizes, front and back, are the same. Also, how would you characterize how well they fit?

I guess the numbers inside the cover don't correspond to the "cover size" numbers in the chart above. Sheesh, nothing is easy.

Maybe not a common toolbox item but I use calipers when I measure scopes for the covers, and I go with the smallest size I can get on the scope so they stay put.
On a side note, if you ever have a modern Leupold or Redfield that is threaded, Leupold's Alumina flip up covers are awesome. Pricey, but they are nice.

Most, if not all, of the scope manufacturers have measurements listed for all of their scopes on their websites. However, their listings may not be accurate. I can see from Oppie's post that the #5 covers specified for my Leupold 1.60" scope aren't tight even though Butler Creek lists a range of 1.60" -1.69". I just measured my scope with my reloading calipers to find that it's actually 1.578" in diameter So, assuming Butler Creeks measurements are accurate, I'm thinking I'll buy size #4.

The Leupold Alumina covers may be great, but at $50 each, I just can't justify buying them.

I think the #4's would be a better fit, the #5's would be ok but I'm afraid I'd lose em out hunting, as Bullzeye mentioned, a wrap of blue tape would help.

I've found more Butler Creek charts, one for each of the different scope cover types. Deerstalker pointed me to the Multi-Flex chart (thx). When I saw it was different, I looked harder and found separate Flip-Up and Blizzard Charts. There were some misleading links on the Butler Creek website, but now their numbering is starting to make sense. I've included all of the charts on an earlier post's image.

I've found a Butler Creek brochure that lists sizes by scope manufacturer and scope cover model. Unfortunately, it doesn't have Excalibur or Hawke scopes, but it has many others. See here:

I am going to try a different brand, I forget the name but I seen some that looked like Butler Creek but were made by someone else.
Also, I am sure the Butler Creek ones used to say Guaranteed for life but I do not see that on the packaging any more, I have two that the spring died in them and I bet shipping them to be replaced on warranty would cost more then just going to the store and buying new ones.

ok here goes nuttin, this seems to comeing up a bit, what size scope covers do i need. i will start by giving u the actual measurements of scope done with dial calipers
objective= 1.552 eye side= 1.685
butler creek size eq:

eye side/ flip open - # 18/19(1.70) item # 20180
blizzard - # 6 (1.70-1.79) item # 70206 see thru
tactical - #16/17/18(1.66-1.70) sku= 41618
multy flex- #16/17/18(1.66-1.70) item # 21618

objective/ flip open - #45(1.558) item # 30150
multy flex- # 13-15(1.53-1.558) item #31315
blizzard- # 4(1.5-1.59) item #70204

eye side the blizzard and tactical are not push button just flip. these sizes come from butler creek website,(so there is my disclaimer: just in case) if it isn't listed here it because they don't make it. cabellas carries all but flip open model. you can do this yourselves for any scope, dial calipers and thier website.
enjoy the rest of your day :) :)

Just put Butler Creek Blizzard scope covers on my Lumi Zone scope. I know it's a different scope but I didn't see anything listed for this one. 7 on the front and 6 on the back (eye side).

For what it's worth, I have a crossbones with 33mm lens, the Butler Creek Blizzard Scope Cover Size #5 fits very loose, afraid it'll come off loose....
A wrap or two of electrical tape around the scope will snug up a loose fitting scope cap and keep it secure

I prefer painters tape simply because electrical tape leaves such a sticky residue, but both work and the color of electrical tape does blend in better.
