Limbs marked with 8.5 and 9

Post by okie143 »

I put the Excaliber shock suppression system on my Axiom today and found black felt tip writing on the back of the limbs. Marked where the end of the limb secures to the riser.
On the left limb, holding the bow as to fire it, had the number 9 written on it and the right limb had 8.5.

Does this mean anything?

Limbs are factory matched and supplied .5 of each other on a scale of 1-10 in .5 increments. Your limbs are GTG!

increments of what?
and why are they not matched evenly, and always .5 out?
what does a set of 1 and 1.5 compare to a set of 9 and 9.5?

I have Matrix limbs, marked 97.5 on both. They are both brand new, just opened the package a few minutes ago. I was surprised, I don't remember seeing a three digit code on the back of any limb, even on the limbs I returned.

Regarding the .5 variance from limb to limb, every other set of limbs I've owned had this so do not split hairs. I remember reading that higher numbers meant a limb that could handle slightly more load, (but I could be wrong in this, search the site). So they give the limb a value and pair them up as best as need be.

On the 8.5 and 9 it is the exact same amount of glass . Just a variation in the universe caused a 1/2 pound difference in the limb . They are a match . :)
As for the limbs on a matrix . They are shorter so hence the higher poundage range .

yes, the half pound difference seems to be deliberate process from factory.
im assuming they do this to reduce stress on the limbs, but it would appear to effect the tiller once the trigger is pulled...
i would of thought it made more sense to match the limbs "evenly".

When they are weighed . The 8.5 and 9 go into the same bin . So when the limbs are assembled the assembler is just looking at the limbs to be similar in pattern . Not having to match pattern and poundage . It makes it far easier . :)
