Stopping Reds/Bumpers From Being Cut

Post by paulaboutform »

I noticed my bumpers being cut on my M380. I rotate them frequently. My brace height is a solid 3/4" (1/4" off bumpers). I'm thinking of cutting some moleskin in a 1" circle and sticking it to the bumpers. I don't think this will damage my string but wanted to get some thoughts or ideas. Any advice? Thanks.

two or three things helps longevity
1: make sure the seam is not in line with the string
2: turn the rubbers a little every 30 shots (give the string a new place to hit)
3: cut about a third off the ball so it will give an air space inside.

Sounds like a good idea to me, I wouldn't think it would hurt your string. Wouldnt it cut the moleskin up too though? Have you trimmed the ends of the balls inside the pads? Makes a little extra space in there and might help prolong the life of the pads a bit.

I have the Danny Miller bumpers. I didn't think I had to cut them.

My bad, I thought you had the REDS. I dont have personal experience with Danny's bumpers but from what I've read here people say the pads are even tougher than the REDs pads.

I can't imagine it would hurt but I also would expect it to peel off pretty quickly. Maybe something tougher like liquid rope whipping might last longer? http://www.cheaperthandirt.net/product/ ... fgod1hAACw

At about $10 a pair, replacement string tamers seems like a pretty easy option. How long have you had them on your bow? If I have to replace them 1-2 times a year, I would probably just go that route.

Back your BH off a little more to say 3/8 , very little loss in speed I'm told . Does it really matter if its a little louder ? If it is .Your bow may be telling you the string is a little to close . just my opinion . :D

I didn't realize they are the Miller (Baby Buggy Bumpers)
then my advise is ..call Him.
the moleskin may work but I have a feeling it will make the bow louder.

I have Danny Miller's RBBB's on my Matrix 355 I am approx 1/4" off them, but you are no doubt putting out more speed and energy.

I would give him a call.

I'll eat those moleskins if thay stay on the RBBB's for more than one shot.

BUSTED! You hit the nail on the head Norm. I won't be shooting for a while though, we just got a foot of snow overnight and still snowing...I can't believe it! This is Vancouver where all it does is rain. I'm sending my bumpers to Danny and getting new ones. He thinks they should get a lot more than the 400-500 shots I've got.
