Shot my wife's Matrix 330 (Impressive)

Post by Hester0305 »

I sighted my wife's 330 in today and I'm pleased as usual when it comes to Excals. I sighted it in at 20 and then went back to 40 and then did a little tweaking from there. I put it through my chrono after I had her dialed in my 20 in. Black Eagles weigh 438 gr. and it shot those at 313 and 314 fps time after time. I finished up putting one of my wife's custom arrows through it and it shot 336 fps with a 358 gr. arrow so its actually shooting faster than the advertised speed. I next shot 2 broadheads at 30 yards to see how they grouped one was a 125 gr. Grizztrick 2 and the other was a QAD Exodus broadhead both shot very good at 30 yards.

Here is a 3 shot group with 2 different arrows at 20 yards and the other picture is both broadheads at 30 yards in my 3 D deer. All shots were made from my shooting bench and I didn't do any testing past 40 yards as of yet but I will do some out to 50 yards very soon. The only thing this bow needs is a better trigger is has a good bit of creep that you have to get used to, I'm going to see if it gets any better before the trigger gets worked on or replaced. This little 330 is very impressive for the power and the size and is very well balanced. I can see my wife keeping this one for a long time and I may borrow it a time or two since its not pink like her Vixen was.

Just finished up wraping the stirup and putting some foam tape on the arrow retainer, just this little bit of attention takes some of the twang out of it. I also shortened the rope cocker a little and it even makes it even easier to cock.

JP its not all that bad I believe its quieter than my 380 was before I worked on it. I will be contacting Danny Miller pretty soon about one of his quiver brackets they're pretty sweet.

I am shooting a Matrix 355 with a Boo flemish with catwhiskers, GoldTip Pro 3's, 100 grain head, 112 grain inserts, and Firenock nocks, total 416 grains, and according to my chronograph, only getting 305 fps. Does that sound about right. Your 330 is getting great speeds compared.

Your 355 should be getting faster speeds than that with only a 412 gr. arrow.

Thanks Pin can't wait to do some more testing with it soon, I may have to break it in before my wife does.
