Finally... I bought some property.

Post by RexKay »

Whether State land, being invited, leasing,or hunting my buddy's cottage, I no longer need to beg, borrow or steal. :D . I been looking for the "right" piece of land. I found an 8 acre parcel for good price. It's in between a 20 acre corn field, and a 15 acre bean field. Half thickets and half woods that run primarily along a creek running diagonally across lot. .its only 8 but can hunt like 20. Deer runs everywhere!! Walked it 3 times in between looking at a couple larger lots. But the 8 kept my mind crazy. So Sunday walked it 1 more time.. 9 deer across the street. 11 bedded next door.( kicked up when car doors slammed shut.) and I saw 5 more white flags as I walked the parcel.. So a busy year for me clearing wood n brush..stands..cameras..etc.....OH IM A HAPPY GUY TODAY!!...Title work Friday..done deal.its only about an hour 15 minutes from home..In a small town of Melvin,MI....AKA Excaliville,MI

Congrats to you. Now being a land owner you know where to hunt. We bought ours in 1977. It went up in value, 6 fold. I am happy! :D :D

Way to go. Deer hunting Michigan is simply amazing!!
A touch of frost has heightened your awareness and your heart steadily beats in anticipation. Your senses are suddenly alert to the movement on the forest floor and you realize that the moment of truth is at hand.

definitely alot of deer in that area.Parents have a cottage north of port sanilac so we back road thru there when we go up to visit.Tons of deer.Hopefully you can make friends with neighbors and have little more land to hunt.I have a little honey hole west of marine city that I can usually take a deer or 2 off of if not hunted too hard.Prefer the national forests up north but nice to have a spot closer to work and home for a quick hunt.

Congrats. I love hunting in MI!

We have a family farm in Attica. The deer numbers are crazy but so are the number of hunters. It's still a lot of fun hunting the thumb.

But if your area is anything like ours, get vigilant with trespassers! Trust me, someone has been hunting there for years with/without permission and they'll be back this year.

Best of luck to you and congrats. Nothing like the pride of ownership!
