Turkey's and deer

Post by MADMAX2 »

Not seeing them here in Brant county in places they have wintered in the past 5 yrs since moving here then again this is the most severe winter I remember.

How are they making due in your neck of the woods?

No turkey sightings since early winter.Last sign was a set of tracks headed to standing sparse corn field near a creek they spend multiple seasons around.
Three deer in past week. One on swamp edge not motating real well cause of snow depth. Two near apple trees where a well used trail is allowing traffic.
A couple road crossings a few miles away the deer are dragging there keels and struggling over fence it looks like. I,m guessing end of month for snowpack to begin falling with melting.

They are alive and well in South Western Ontario. There have been several flocks of turkey spotted nearby by everyone but me, all on private land. Also in excess of 40 deer, in the bush and cornfield all protected by the golf course they are beside. Oh well.

Counted 70 deer in a field last night, beside a golf course. I counted twice I could not believe it. I'm no expert but it appears as though the area they occupy can't sustain that number and that's why they are all in the field trying to find food. I suspect the coyote population will do well again this year. This is all in WMU91

I've seen a decrease in deer numbers around here the last couple years, especially with doe's.
