Lifelong dream of mine to go archery moose hunting. Work dictates that I can't get the time off needed in the fall. The good news is that I only have 21 more years to retirement!

Thanks. Arrow was GT Laser 3 with brass insert and G5 Striker,Boo string and trigger job, shot about 8 yards, moose dropped within 25 yrds.

We hunt a fly in camp and have been hunting the same lake now for 13 yrs. We hunt from tree stands and call moose in. Our success rate is very high at this location using our method of hunting. My bull came in to the call first thing in the morning of day 2 of our hunt this past fall. Day 1 was spent in the same stand which is one of our best locations. My tree stand named the killer stand - for good reason, my moose was # 8 shot from that tree. Opening day was quiet with little activity and no moose sighted or heard. Day 2 started out nice calm morning little wind but not the perfect frosty morning we wish for, it was a little warmer than we would like but still cool. We heard the bull first about four hundred yards west of us, he was grunting hard and coming. He followed the creek that was right under my stand, as he rounded the bend about three hundred yards out. I spotted him and got the binocs on him. I could see that he was about to cross the creek which would bring him straight at me as my buddy John was calling from about 80 yards behind me. I readied the new Matrix and waited for the chance for a good shot. The bull came on strong, grunting every step of the way, this is what every moose hunter lives for. Your heart beating so fast and loud your worried the moose will hear it! The bull stopped 8 yards from me and stood still, he was 5 yards from my canoe which was pulled up into a beaver Shute. As he stood there I thought he could see the canoe and that had stopped him. I later discover he could not have seen it but possibly smelled it. He stood in that exact position for close to 5 minutes, the whole time the safety was off and the crosshairs waiting. At this point I was getting worried that he may bolt, if he did he would be in heavy cover and no shot. He was standing facing me an in the middle of the shooting lane I had cleared. Knowing the power of the Matrix, I was confident I could do what my mind was telling me I had better do fast. Being up about 18 FT I had the perfect line down through the neck into the vitals, not a shot I would have tried with my 75lb longbow that I normally hunt with. Not a shot I would even recommend to any vertical bow shooter, but something I knew the Matrix had the energy to pull off. So, with all that in mind. I placed the arrow exactly where I visioned the best chance of it going down through neck into vitals. The moose turned and sprinted on the shot to collapse at about 25yrds. The arrow had penetrated through neck and stopped with broad head inside moose's heart. My hunting partner John that called this one in for me, arrowed our second bull the next afternoon that I called in to him at another one of our stands. Last year we arrowed 3 bulls, 2 opening morning and 1 on day two afternoon from the exact same 2 trees!
