Woods walking
Spent a most enjoyable morning woods walking yesterday. The snow has finally melted enough to make it possible w/o major detours. The woods are quite open, one can see where the deer traffic occurs in the wet leaves and soft earth. Visited 4 of my stands and relived memories from last fall, esp the death-run of the buck shot from the Cornfield Stand. Realized that the Swamp Narrows Stand is much too close to traffic and quite open. Moving it back from the trail against the swamp edge is my project for this morning; much easier now that there are no leaves on trees to grab at the ladder going up. Besides, it's my day off (from retirement chores), can't think of a better way to spend it than deer-messin.' Oh yes, the Vertex will get dusted, tuned and shot too.
