Rage Broadheads for crossbow

Post by typical10 »

Howdy, bought some rage 125gr for crossbow with the plastic collar to keep the broadhead from prematurely opening, and it appears the M380 thrust still opens the head on exit of the bow. I used 3 different arrow set ups to no avail. The arrow did ever acrabatic trick possible but hit the block as close as 10 yards/Any insight? thanks jeff~

Paul...any suggestions for practice targets using the Toxics?....I have seen some videos and they are pretty devastating in terms of the channels they create. I have bought a pack and would like to try them but am concerned with how they fly and the damage to the 18 in 1.

If you must use the Rages, tie the blades in place with a single wrap of common cotton sewing thread. Personally I prefer Slick Trick mags for bows of that pull weight. If expendables, then Spitfires or Grim Reaper Whitetail Specials
Vortex, Phoenix, single-shot rifles and handguns.

I have killed over 20 deer with rage 125 out of my equinox and ibex and they always seemed to fly true. I wonder how much more the 380 has over the 350 equinox to open them prematurely. I sold the ibex and was planning on using them on my 330. How did you test them to discover they opened?

Thanks Big D

Hey Anthony. Firstly, don't listen to Boo, he's a trouble maker! Secondly, I know first hand they are field point accurate out to 100yards. Thirdly, they will core your target like they core an animal so I suggest shooting one or two shots from 50-60yards just so you have the confidence in them. Shoot off the bench with a good rest and when you see your arrows hit the same place as your field points you'll know the closer yardages are fine. I recommend shooting a single arrow per target so you're not destroying arrows. The blades are so tough they'll surprise you. After dozens of shots with the same toxic I'm just now having to replace the blades as they're starting to open slightly (but enough to affect accuracy out at 100yards yard -5" low)

Did you make sure shock collars were positioned in right place, blades do not go in slits ,there are little arrows on shock collars make sure positioned in right place per instructions

Young guns I was thinking the same thing. Most people I have talked to that use the new rage with shock collars did not know that the arrow on the collar should be lined up with blades. Most are putting the blades at the slit. I still also use the old rage and never had problems with the o rings. I have used the new collars on the rage extreme on one deer and shot 23 with the o rings. I will probably use the new crossbow-x rage with shock collars this season these seem to hold the blades even better.
