Ambidextrous cheek piece?

Post by cspot »

Just wondering if anyone has ever made one or if Excalibur has ever thought of offering one for the bows. The situation I have is 5 people using 2 crossbows in which 2 of them shoot left-handed. Situation arises that both of them could be shooters at the same time. Any thoughts?

I'm pretty sure that Xcal's cheekpiece is ambidextrouse.

Should have been clearer in my post. I do realize that it can be switched, but I am looking for one that both a right and left hand shooter would be able to use without taking screws out and switching sides.

I'd like that too. I shoot both hands and it would be handy... no pun intended!

It can be custom made BUT it is also extra weight. No such thing as perfection. :D

Best I could come up with, don't put one on. At least it will then be truly ambidextrous. What also might work is to bend a piece of thin sheet metal, wrap it inside, and out. It would look like a saddle when finished.

Before I got my cheek piece, I used a piece of foam
pipe insulation. I cut it about 5" long, peeled the tape off and put it on. Never came off or moved.

May not look as good as the Excal cheek piece
but it worked great and it always felt warm on my face.
Can't remember if I covered it with camo tape or not.

But any more I have a hard time remembering most
things.

We setup both bows for right hand so that way the left hand shooters are used to shooting without one. I was just curious if there was something out there.

It seems to me it would be easy enough to make one that fits like a saddle, snaps on and has a hole in the top to secure with an allen screw. Also, to have spacers that you could attach under the saddle to raise it up from 1/2" - 2" so you can get the perfect cheek weld and use longer fasteners to secure. Maybe I should design something and start sales? Hmmmm :?
