My new rubber boots

Post by roly »

I just bought new rubber boots for hunting
this year, their rated for -100 , maybe they will keep my feet warm.

My question is, does anyone know how to get rid of that strong toxic PVC smell.
Man the smell is really strong
Any thoughts or ideas.

The smell is the chemicals coming to the surface and gasifying. Repetitively wash it in scent free soap and leave it in the sun to dry.
You can also use an odor neutralizer like Scent Killer etc after you think it's gone and just before hunting. Odor neutralizers inhibit gasification.
Rick, have you ever thought of slipping into a double sleeping bag or wearing boot insulators when you're in a blind? My Arctic Sheilds work really well. When it gets real cold, I shove boots and all in my bow case.

Rick, perhaps give some thought to adding Thermacell remote control heated insoles this winter.

I've always worn Sorrel boots with the felt liners in the cold weather. Find now as I'm getting older and the diabetes and heart issue catch up to me they're not enough. Last year I stated using the hot hands and hot feet packs or the Dollars Store clones and they work great. No more painful burning sensation from the cold and an inexpensive fix.

you might try some Raven Wear overboots when sitting on your stand. They will make them for any boot size. They're a Canadian Company. They kept my feet toasty at -26F.

If I'm on stand all day I put a couple of those chemical hot pockets in my boots, keeps my feet from getting chilly. I'd never go out with rubber boots stinking like that, but it makes me wonder if items smelly like that is from cheap rubber because I've noticed a few things stinking like that lately. The solid rubber tires on my deer cart reek like that no matter how many times I washed them or left them outside to air, and I just picked up a cot with rubber feet that stink just like the tires.
