BOLT LENGTH FOR EXOCET 200

Post by CT.HNTR »

As long as the bolt weighs the minimum 350 grains is there any reason why I could not use an 18 inch long bolt with an Exocet 200?

Just for the sake of safety, make sure you can't put your foot in the stirrup with an arrow nocked! Especially with a broadhead!

If I may ask, why and when would he need to have a bolt nocked and put his foot in the stirrup? That sounds like a "never do this" to me:)

How could anyone forget to load an arrow and dry fire their bow? Because accidents happen, distractions, etc. Say you decide not to take the shot and need to decock, oops you forgot the arrow was loaded and it just went through your foot

OK. I'm thinking that being over tired could be an issue. I doubt that many will use longer bolts, for "said" safety reason and will likely go shorter, for performance reasons. Me, I'll use the length recommended by Excalibur.

Again, too short where you can put your foot in the stirrup with an arrow nocked is dangerous! People forget!

Bifoot870 makes me feel stupid. I was in a hurry to watch a playoff baseball game after hunting one Oct. evening a couple of years ago, and forgot to remove the broadhead tipped arrow from my crossbow. I was in the garage of our house at the farm and had taken my boots, off when I decided to uncock my bow. I have a scar between my big toe and the next toe on my left foot, as well as a sock with a clean cut hole in it. to commemorate the event.

I healed up fine, but I learned as lesson.

Something tells me once is enough for that lesson. Like fire hot!
Glad it wasn't worse.
