NEW to Excalibur, New Matrix 355...so cool so far

Post by mwhiz »

Just bought a Matrix 355 from a man named Dan. great person to know. I looked at & test fired xbows at Cabelias. the guy told me about Dan & Horizontal Archery. He is Great to work with and will do set ups on Excalibur bows that can not compare to price, set up or service anywhere. Every time I called he picked up the phone personally. WOW WAY TO GO DAN!!! he set up my Matrix 355 with anti dry fire and noise bumpers well under retail. Got my Xbow in 2days free shipping. he has no web site or email that I know of.
Got my bow and Sighted it in at 60 yards.
Dan says no string/serving wax. Everyone else say to use it.
After 30 shots I have had to adjust my string height is this normal?
Also I have damaged fetching on a bolt or two. How do you know when to replace fetching can I use the slide on sleeve type.

Danny is a trip! He is a great guy to work with without a doubt.
It is normal to have to adjust brace height on a new string. Keep it a tad high and let it stretch.
Danny says no wax. Boo (Don) says wax the string and lightly wax the serving. I listen to Boo. :D

Yep, he's a trip to the past! Great guy, knowledgeable, and helpful. I agree on the waxing though. I use that instead of rail lube, and have never had an issue.

Danny, keep up the good work! :D

Welcome to the forum, and congrats on the 355!

Dan's the man!! I wax my string and lightly wax my serving. Works well for me. I think Danny says not to wax it bc if you overdo it ,you could get wax in the trigger mechanism but I've never had a problem.

Welcome Aboard, I haven't waxed a serving in yrs but I do wax the string, keep your rail clean,Simonize, don't shot at the same spot twice and save your fletching. Good Luck

Thanks Everyone.
What kind of wax should I use? As far as the damage on my fletching it is from the bolt going though a plastic 5gal bucket that the target was sitting on. no tears but now have two bolts with warped and wavy vanes. They still fly & hit at 30 yards but not sure they will fly true past that. I plan to test them on a bench rest.
they seem OK at 30 yards not sure what they will do at long distances. I did see the NAP quickfletch not sure where or what kind to get.
