Greetings from Wisconsin

Post by BrotherRon »

Im new to the site and don't own a crossbow yet, but that will change soon :)
I am planning on getting a Matrix 350 but have a few questions.
I am 57 years old, 5'4" and weigh 150 dripping wet.
I had back surgery about 24 years ago.
When I cocked the 380 I could feel it in my lower back the last couple inces.
Im wondering if the 350 would be easier for me or if I should go with the 330?
(I don't really want to use a cocking crank)
Im hoping to get to Cabelas in a week or so to try one out (100 miles away)
I have been a bow hunter for 30 years and looking forward to a crossbow.
What accessories would everyone here recomend?
What scope should I use.... I like to hunt first & last light.
Where is the best place to order from?

All helpful insight greatly appreciated.
Ron.

You won't tell much diff between a 355 & a 380 by rope cockin them. 330 maybe a better option if'en you don't want to use a crank. stringing aid, guardian adf set of Millers buggy bumpers, 2 or 3 extra strings. Rope cocker half dz BEE's 100gr bullet pts & some good 100gr BH's. You need couple good targets, spiderweb is best fer field/bullet pts. Rinehart 18-1 or their rhinobloc fer BH's

You are in a small town are you not. How far are you from Green bay? We could meet and talk crossbows and hopefully get you set up. :D

I just bought a 355 from Wyvern. I would go through Danny Miller though and get a 330 with ant-dryfire, executioner bolts, stringing aid, several extra strings, and cheek pad (love the cheek pad!!) Morrel makes a nice target for field points and you will want a rangefinder if you don't have one already as well.

Welcome!!!!!!

I'd probably go with the 330, but you might think about a crank cocking aid. It wouldn't matter which one you pick with it.

....same age, same height, weight (er...lets just say 150 with one and a half feet on the scale)....I haven't had back surgery (but have scoleosis), torn cartridge in both shoulders. I shoot the M380 and initially thought it was going to be a big problem...well I can say it has not....I have no real trouble cocking and decocking...It is at the end of my rope so to say (meaning, no M405 for me)....I just put 40 shots through it last Saturday and had a blast....If you would like to chat...PM me and I will give you my number here in NJ...

Best regards,

Anthony :D :D
