I'm thinking the Matrix 330 is the bow that will fit my needs.
I will mainly use it for hunting, but will occasionally do a little target practice.
Will this be a good hunting bow?
I was planning on getting a good used one if I can find one, but the wife thinks I should get a new one.

Thanks.
Ron.

I've heard a lot of good things about the 330.

But just out of curiosity, have you considered a 355 instead?

I had back surgery about 24 years ago, and when I cocked the 380 I could feel it straining on my lower back.
From what I hear there isn't much difference between the 380 and the 350...
so I figure the 330 would be better for me.

I have a 380 and it is a bit of work for me to cock. with the rope. Also, since I like to target shoot, repeated cocking tires my arms which makes holding the bow still for aiming more challenging. The solution is a crank. As long as you don't mind a bit of noise, the crank is great. It is relatively fast, very easy to use and removes all physical strain from cocking.

I'm sure the 330 is a great bow and the crank might even be a good idea for it. However, don't be intimidated by the faster bows because of the draw weight.

I'll probably choose to hunt with my 330 more often than my 380 this year, especially on long walks with a climber. You'll like this model.

My buddy just got a 330 and loves it. I shoot a Vortex and when we shoot the bows side by side, we get same hole POI with the same arrow out of either bow.

I feel that is a great hunting bow that is a nice blend of speed/power but also will go a lot easier on your string/serving due to the lighter draw weight. Some of the heavier bows can be rough on a serving.

I set him up with Black Eagle Arrows Executioners in 20" length, brass inserts, fletched with 2" Rayzr feathers. They shoot great and he (and I) are shooting 100gr points on them. He also has some 18" Diablos and they shoot about the same POI as well as they are about the same wt.

You will like the 330 - and being able to cock it easier - you will shoot it more.

Make sure you get the string assist with it, it will be $30 well spent in saving your string and trips to the archery shop to have the string adjusted because of string stretch. I like my 330 and the wife is spose to pick hers up after labor day but we just spent $500 on the furnace so maybe not. For my 330 keeping the string about 1/8 th " back of the line on the rail keeps just about all string pressure off the rail saving on serving wearing,, and mine shoots great that way.

This site really impresses me.
Everyone here is really helpful. I have 0 experience with crossbows but have learned a lot already just from joining this site :D
I'm soaking up all the info I can from here and others that I have heard about from people here... Dan Miller. - Don Katsumi. (Boo strings)
The wife says I can buy the one I want in 4 weeks....
It will be either the Matrix 310 or 330.
It will be used mainly for white hunting with periodic target practice.

Thanks for all the help.
