SLICK TRICK BROADHEAD FERRULE SIZE

Post by CT.HNTR »

I have been reading many positive reviews about Slick Trick broadheads so I purchased a pack of the standard 100 grain heads to give them a try. When I screwed them onto my bolts I noticed they have a small ferrule diameter at the base. The ferrule diameter is much smaller than the 11/32 diameter of my bolts. There is a distinct step from the base of the ferrule to the bolt face and the step is in the wrong direction and just looks odd to me.

I have been using NAP Thunderheads for the last few years and the ferrule diameter is the same as my bolts so when I screw them on everything is smooth with no transitions. The Slick Tricks being smaller create a step between the ferrule and bolt that just does not look right to me and the step is in the wrong direction. Has anybody else noticed this and is it a problem?

I noticed the same thing w/ the muzzy trocars, but in the trocars they offer a crossbow version and all it is, is a little bigger ferrell. I read a lot of persons on here using the slick tricks and i bet they wouldn't use them if'n they didn't put the meat on the ground, . . .my knowledge is very limited.

It's the exact opposite for me with the 150 grain X-Bow Trick and Firebolts... almost couldn't get them to screw into the insert they were so tight.

No problems here.
I've tried a lot of other heads and kept coming back to the ST's.
They are the most consistantly accurate head I've found for my 380....Whacks the doody out of deer too

the way the Slick trick cuts a hole in a deer,,I wouldn't worry about a thing. They blow right thru a deer or at least have for me. I haven't seen any of my arrows sticking out of a deer yet and been using them for 3 yrs now. Awesome broadhead as I am going to shoot the same broadhead that has already killed three and keep using it till I either loose it, or break it finally. Its my lucky arrow so far. :) I have lost a few other arrows with slicktricks on them, buried so deep in the ground,,can't find them.

Totally agree. I shot 2 deer with them last year and those arrows were fletched with feathers - which generally don't stay on, or if they do get boogered up - when passing through a deer. Recovered both arrows and have been shooting them "as-is" a lot this year. All I did was wash off the blood and dry the feathers out. Good to go. That is a testament to a Slick Trick "Slug Hole". I was using the 150gr Xbow Tricks
