Trail cam selfie

Post by NEPAbowhunter »

I did not plan this. Have had the camera in the same spot all summer.Went out the first afternoon of archery season here in PA. Towards the end of the evening I had a 6 point show up 20 yards in front of me and was standing in my ladder watching him when these doe came down the trail to my right. They all got a pass that night because there are bigger deer in the area and I was hoping one would be following behind.

Is that a fence or a wood pile under your stand?

I was going to ask the same thing. It looks to me to be dry stacked flat rock. We have a few fence lines that are stacked stone. Every Spring there would be another crop of them to remove from the field. I guess the freeze and thaw would bring them up.

Oh yeah, great pic!

That is a stacked field stone wall. There is a wall out in front of me about 50 yards away that is stacked as high as my chin and runs for over a hundred yards. I shot a nice 8 point Friday night and watched him jump that wall like he was jumping over a log!

This is what I have been waiting for. I have pictures of other bucks, but this guy came by Friday night so I decided to take him. I got a 25 yard double lung shot on him. He ran about 60 to 100 yards. I had a really hard time finding him in the dark by myself, but I got him. They say the hard work begins after the shot, they are not kidding! I could not get any field pics, believe me I was happy just to get him to my truck, then into the bed. Put 8 bags of ice in him and on him to keep him cooled off until I took him to the butcher in the morning. Going to get a European mount done on him. The sad part is here in PA you shoot one buck and your done. I have two weeks vacation coming in November I took off for deer hunting
