Almost shot my foot!

Post by amythntr »

....well, the process of decocking the M380 is no big deal for me....or so I thought! Good thing I held the handle very tightly as I pulled the trigger....the next thing I felt was some resistance and something pushing against the top of my boot   ...low and behold...I FORGOT TO TAKE THE ARROW OUT before beginning the decocking process. I was able to regroup and apply upward pressure and remove said foot!. One Spit Fire blade was bent but all in all it was a successful extraction!

I guess this day goes down as a very successful hunt even though we saw nary a
deer!

Been there.. my boots now have a patch of silicone covering a perfect "X" where the Slick Trick went in.
Could have got ugly..

Close call there. Glad all is ok. If that would have been a fixed blade you would have a hole in your boot!!!

.....ahhhhh! I guess that one goes in the "pros" column when people are debating fixed blades over mechanicals!

My friend did this last year and put a Rage into his boot and barely into his foot before he realized it. My arrows are longer than my stirup so I should be safe. Glad you didn't get hurt real bad

Lol, I have the "Slick Trick Scar" on a pair of boots, too. I had to take my sock off to believe I hadn't sliced some toes.

I did that with my Equinox, while in a tree stand, and I was lucky that my son was near & could climb up and help remove the arrow.

Glad it worked out. I did that with my exomax a few years ago. Fortunately I was able to re-cock the bow as soon as I felt the pressure.

On bows with bolts that don't extend into the stirrup space I think everyone does that once sooner or later. Kinda like the catching your thumb with the string - only did that once and still don't have full feeling in my left thumb.
