Well, I just booked my flight for a few days in the end of November for my hog hunt. A dear old friend of mine has them free ranging at his place. He's got o few hundred acres of thick brush and willows, open sections and swamps. The swamps should be frozen by then. Since I'm using my M380 we'll be setting up in a blind and baiting them. Past experience with some very aggressive boar hogs says this is the best way to go. Having almost been eaten by those nasty tuskers I'm glad to hit the blind (or treestand) out of their reach. Anyway, I'm making up some new zombies with 110 grain brass inserts as my heavy hitter shafts to use with Luminoks. I'll be using my usual 2"blazers and 100gr Toxic Broadheads. I can't wait to try out my M380 with this setup on hogs. I shot some bigguns last year with my Exomax but I'm hoping there's a 300lbs+ tusker that i can line up on. Now the hard part is waiting another month.
I can't even stand it! 15 more days before I get to go. It feels like everyone else is hunting and shootin stuff and I'm stuck in the city. Well, it'll give me a little more time to organize gear, break in my new 28 strand force ten string by boo and makeep sure I'm driving tacks before I go. !!!!!!!

I'm flying to Alberta. My friend lives about an hour out of Edmonton. I've been going there for years and those buggers are sooo delicious. It's fenced in but there's a lot of area and they're very wild. The land owner was pulling a small trailer behind his quad and had one bust out beside the trail in a full charge. He was able to give it throttle just in time so the trailer was smashed instead of him. A couple weeks later another big boar charged him while on his quad, but head on this time. It managed to lift the front end of the machine then took off. It's pretty unnerving. He doesn't want anyone still hunting or trying to stalk anymore. Safety factor.Just as well. If there were only smaller hogs up to 150-200 lbs it would be fine but throw a few big boys into the mix and I don't head out without a rifle/shotgun or someone I trust backing me up with one. Great fun!

I'm no hog expert...but i've killed a few. Just remember to aim low & forward .
Absolutely! I've hunted them in Texas (God bless Texas, I love that state) and Alberta....mostly Alberta though. I've found that the best shot is a slight quartering away with the near side leg stepping forward and dropping one right behind the point of the elbow into the armpit. It's amazing how low their heart is. A big boar hog is the hands down best animal in North America to test penetration with any archery equipment. Hands down!

Paul, my setup here has always been FMJs with a brass insert and a 150gr Magnus 2 blade (~575gr). But I was just thinking yesterday in my deer stand that I want to use Zombies this year. But I will still top them with the 2 blade. I want to go through even if I hit the shield. That 380 should be wonderful for hogs.
Have you seen these? Great stuff here for anyone thinking about a hog hunt with archery tackle.
The shield on those hogs is ridiculous. And the bigger and older the hog the thicker it is. I've compared it to the rubber matt you lay in the bed of a pickup truck. That's why i prefer closer shots on those boars....up to 30yards but 15-20 yards is even better.

I agree 100% . The guide I go with thinks I'm nuts because I like to use my bow and get close. He's probably right, but you need to be right there. Those vids are amazing to me. And the kill zone one is awesome. Very deceptive on a hog.
