Serving on string?

Post by kmaxwell5 »

My serving on my string is coming apart on my Axiom. What does is cost to put a new one on? I have a new string coming from Danny Miller but I wanted to keep the old one for a spare. And I don't want to shoot it like it is.

Buy a stringer and do it yourself. Plus you will be able to change on in the field if needed. :D

Not sure what the factory serving is, but I have some .036 "crossbow" serving I could put on it for you. Email or PM me if interested.

Can not beat an experienced crossbow guy that knows how to serve a crossbow string. The serving is definitely a weak link on our high poundage recurves.

You're exactly right NEP ! You can give 2strings to 2 different people and one guy will get twice as many shots off his center serving ! There's a lot of factors that affect the life of center serving . I like to call it the Wild Card ! Lol

Better off to use someone who does crossbow strings regularly, than an archery shop who's mostly only handling vertical bows. With a low poundage vertical bow you can get away with a center serving that's not up to scratch and not so tight. But with the higher poundage crossbows it will generally come apart quickly. Also better to use quality thick serving material for longer life and correct string/nock contact.
