Deer Season 2014

Post by swalsh »

Deer season has come to an end for me today. I shot a 7 point buck this morning.
Rattled him in around 8 am, he gave me an 8 yard broadside shot. I thought I had made a good shot but my heart sunk when I watched him walk , albeit slowly, away.
Good thing it's on video. I gave him some time, went home to review the vid and it looks like a good shot. I started tracking again at 11 am. I lost his blood trail 3 or 4 times, but persistence pays off and 2 hours later I found him. He was still alive so I had to put another in him. I was so relieved to find him, I felt like crap when he walked away. After finding him I see why he went so far, I hit him high with the initial shot and only got 1 lung. But now he's hanging in my garage, and I couldn't be happier.

Congratulations! It's bitter sweet. It's always great to tag out but then there's another whole year of waiting for the new season.
