Excalibur Micro 335 Pics Showing Quill Length

Post by cjonesth »

Attached are some pics showing the regular quill 16.5"that comes with the EM 355 and BE Zombies .001 cut to 15.5". Both quills weight the same 370 gr. with a 100 gr. field tip and recorded the same speed of 333 fps. Nock and front inserts installed after the quills were cut. I have also installed a TTT hunter target model in the last pic. After shooting quite a few quills I found there was creep in the original trigger before the wall. There is no creep now. With a 350 gr. quill I was getting 339 - 340 fps. recorded on a Pro Chrono. I forgot to mention I will test both quills out to 60 yards to see if there is any difference in POI.

Nice pictures. What kind of accuracy are you getting with the 15.5" BE Zombies and what vanes are you using with them? I was wondering if shortened BE's would be too stiff in spine with the Micro 335.

thanks looks good. I just actually stopped in at the local shop to just give a heads up on my missing bow just in case. Anyway they happened to have a Micro i fondled her well and was asked if i wanted to shoot it (silly question of course i did) . Man its a sweet bow...... shoulders nice balanced great cock about the same as the 355 just more preload off the get go. quieter on the shot smoother. Good job Excalibur!

Right now only been shooting at 20 yards, deadly accurate, won't shoot another quill at the same bullseye. Been there done it, very costly. 2" Blazer vanes with right helical.

Just curious, what Trigger Tech Trigger did you install in case I decide to go that way. The Hunter 2.5 or the Matrix Hunter 2.5?

I have to say that is best looking Excalibur yet!!
if those arrows are 15.5 then you could go down to what 14.5 -14" if you wanted ?
one more question..did you wrap the stirrup?

I May go down to 14.5" but want to test at longer yardages with the original length and the 15.5" to see if there is really any difference in POI with the shorter length but identical weights. Yes I wrapped it with camo hockey tape available at Canadian Tire. Have done this to all my stirrups to eliminate any ring and also protect it from being scratched. I also put black shrink wrap on arrow retainer. Testing on hold till rain stops.

Great post.
Do you feel the target model and it's 1.5 draw fits that bow better than the 2.5

Noticed that the arrow retainer appears to be much shorter., If it is would be a nice addition for anyone installing to the Guardian Anti Dryfire on other models.
