Finally...Got my first Excaliber deer...
Yesterday was a cool morning, dressed for the Va morning I headed up to one of my successful blinds nestled back on I a small white oak flat.I had placed this blind here back in August and knew that hidden along a well used deer trail and also along side a thicket this would provide some Fall activity and it has twice so far,one with a wheelie xbow and now my new best bow the Matrix 330.
The morning air was crisp and the woods quiet and every movement left an audible sound from 10 yds to a 100 yards. The sun rose above the tree line and gave that extra brightness to the oak flat where I was and not to mention that shot of warmth thst we all long for on a chilly morning.I was all settled into my routine of gazing at god's handy work when I heard foot steps behind me.I always leave a small opening in the blind door just to peeped out on what might be coming up behind and this time I was glad I did.I saw a small spike circling from behind and was on one of the trails I hoped to have a deer travel. He stepped into one of my predetermined shooting lanes and I let a BEE
tipped with a Magnus II bladed BH.I saw the classic tucked tail and he ran 40 yards and stopped.I noticed the tail flicker and no deer and no sound of a deer making its last attempt to flee.
I could not see my lighted arrow.I began to doubt everything that just happened as we always do when we loose an arrow.I waited that crucial 30 minutes and couldn't take it anymore.I got out to do some recon.I found my arrow stuck in a sapling no nock but a splatter of blood on the sapling and a bright red arrow. A smile appeared as I knew what had to be laying up the ridge.I followed the evident blood trail to where I last saw the deer and there he laid where I last saw the flicker of the tail.He had fallen over dead in his tracks.I as I always do gave thanks to the Father for a great hunt.Although it was a small buck they all mean something to me and just to have the opportunity to do so in this day and time is a blessing in itself.Thanksf or reading and sorry for the long post...I will try to post pic when I figure this laptop out

Thanks for the story and congrats on your deer. Those young ones are hands down the best eating deer.

Good job.... and a great story...Nothing like it in the world hunting.. and with a bow that much more rewarding. Heck I even got a shiver as the sun broke the tree tops... and that might not be a bad idea to keep the zipper down a little on the back............
