Another deer taken in NJ

Post by ajr1234 »

I seem to have all my luck on Sundays

This morning got to my spot around 6AM. (or should I say my dad's spot. He was sleeping in the car). There is another father and son whom we started hunting with this season. Rick (the father) texted me around 615 to tell me he had bumped a deer and it was heading towards me. No sooner I read his text I heard the footsteps.

Down the mountain comes a decent sized doe just trying to go to her bedding area for the day. She happened to walk 12 yards away from the wrong tree. Touched off the trigger and watched my Lumenok disappear into her should and reappear in the leaves behind her.

She didn't make it 40 yards before she tipped over and slid down the mountain further then she ran.

Score another harvest for the M380.

Yes, dad was, as they say, resting his eyes...this body tends to break down with two consecutive days of hunting...at the spot where we stop for coffee I asked Anthony to drive the rest of the way....well we got there and I needed to sleep...in any event I woke up to not only hearing about Anthony's doe but our new hunting friends Rick and his son Chris were searching for another doe that Chris had shot.,..Well we all went searching and following blood till 3:30 in the afternoon with no recovery :? ....so although I didn't hunt I sure felt like it was a full day, searching up and down the mountain, through swamp and thick, thorny crap for this bionic dear...

You know it was a great day all in all. New friends, my son got another with his M380 and new memories were created...Yea it WAS a great day!

Anthony :)

Congratulations Ajr, apparently you're a real chip off the old block. I'm happy for both your great father/son day. :D
....what happened with Chris's deer? What was he using and where does he think he hit it?

Thanks Paul...He was shooting a Barnett Jackel...seems like he took a 50+ yd shot. Not sure where he hit it...the amazing thing is there was a fair amount of consistent blood then it would taper off to drops than a fair amount of blood and then drops...we followed this up the mountain down the mountain...for over 8 hours...In the end it was determined that with light but an hour left it could not be mortally wounded. Our friend's son felt terrible but a lesson was learned...

...the up shot to all of this is both Rick and his son Chris are saying that they love the way the Micro 335 looks and from what we have been telling them of the Exclas...we might have two new owners next year....

We are trying to start an excal revival!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! These bows are deadly accurate, reliable and just devastating on anything they hit. Went through both shoulders on this doe like the bones weren't even there.
