cleaning the rails

On the video he shows using WD 40.I have black marks like toward the riser on the rails from the string.This what you use to clean those marks off? Thanks!

I use a little silicone on a rag.

The spray silicone is good but don't get it on your serving or string it breaks the wax down.

I use denatured alcohol on a rag. Keep it off the string.

Using a rag with the silicone also lubricates you rail and you don't need rail lube.

I take the time to do a thorough job .
Which cleaning around the string prevents.
I remove the string completely paper clip the loops togeither to maintain twist.
Which envolves 60 seconds more time.
Then I wipe the rail from the trigger down the rail then off the end of the riser.
Then give the limbs a wipe down at the same time. Especally around the limb tips which tend to gather dirt around and under the loops after a hunting season.
No worries about affecting the string / serving wax or leave a residual contamination from the cleaning solution. WD 40 / Silicone.

I rarely use rail lube.
