These rubs are 20yds from my 22' ladder stand where I shot my 9pt buck the other day!

Looks like someone was checking out your stand and letting you know they know you're there. Put a trail camera out there and it'll likely go missing.

Definitely looks like a hatchet job. Notice the cuts above the "RUB".. made by a blade on a downward angle. Then shaved the trunk with it..

Hmmm... can tree climbing spikes cause that type of damage?

If a buck did that... It's one big dude, I've never seen a rub from a white tail like that.

Man made for sure look at the bottom in the center where a strip of bark was cut off horizontally

back in my younger days we'd sneak back into a buddy's hot spot and do a little rub action.it was tough keeping a straight face when he got back to camp all fired up about a big buck in his area.we did a lot of pranking back in that camp.
