Another day...another Doe

Post by robertyb »

I have been trying for the past 5 days to get a clean shot on a large nanny and she kept taking her herd on a trail 50 to 80 yards from me no matter which tree I set up in. I was thinking she was a mind reader and knew in advance which tree I was going to climb each day even though I do not think she actually knew she was being hunted.
Well, this morning I split the difference as the wind was finally right and at 10:10 AM she led her herd by my tree for the last time. I finally got a clear shot at her at 30 yards with my Excal M-330. She ran about 90 yards after being double lunged and expired on the side of an extremely steep ridge which gave me a chance to break in a new Deer Cart I recently bought. I do believe it saved me from having a heart attack, it worked really well. Should have bought one years ago......

Congratulations. That is one nice sized doe. I need to pick one of those deer carts up myself before next deer season.

I used your new string to shoot her with Mike. It settled in nicely and has not budged since. :D
