Riddle me this ...?

Post by Wingman »

Today, I dissasembled my Phoenix for the first time, for easier transport during my holiday vacation. In order to fit it into a bow case, I backed out the two screws that hold the riser to the rail, seperating the xbow into two pieces. To my surprise, I found a pretty thick coat of oil in the contact area where the riser meets the rail. While together, you would look at it and think it was a dry fit. I was surprised and rather baffled to find the contact joint oily on both sides.

So, is that joint supossed to have an oil film in there, or is this something that may have possibly leaked in? I do spray a silicone lubricant on a paper towel and wipe the rail, but I've never sprayed it directly on the rail. Has anyone else noticed their riser/rail joint oiled?

Best i remember all of my older models were dry. I haven't broken down either of my Matrix models yet.

I noticed some oil on my Vortex when I took it apart to ship, and I think it was just a bit of residue from the bolts. Have not seen this with the Matrix however.

HaHaHa! That's a good one Anthony! I laughed out loud when I read that!

I didn't think there was any reason to have oil in there. Just wanted to check with ya'll and see what your experiences were. I'll wipe it down good when I reassemble.

Burst the piss sack, haha! Man, that's a good one
