ANOTHER Micro 335 comparison

Post by SEW »

Today I shot a Micro 335. After assembly, I shot the xbow @10 yds with factory arrow/125g field point: almost dead on, then 20 yds - 1" L. 2 clicks rt and right on. 30 yds and 325'/sec on scope - 1.3" hi. Appx 335'/sec on scope - dead on, minute adjustment at 50 . 50 yd 3 shot gp 1.4". Larger than I expected. No wind, a Hart adj rest/Protector#13. 3-shot gp again, 1.1". Larger than I expected. However, the chevron covers a lot of territory at 50 yds. Trigger isn't a TT but was quite good, IMO. Then shot my M380/405s (Duralyt 2-8,Optimizers, TT#2.5 DS, Zombies, 170g FP, Boo strings). Both <1" considerably. Recently, I've shot a friend's Exocet 225 with Optimizer/VXR 2-7, Red Hot Arrows, Boltcutters and got appx 1" 80 yd 3-shot GPS repeatedly. Cocking difficulty from easiest to hardest : Exocet, M380, Micro,M405. The cocking string for the Mini wasn't shortened as the other 3 Excals are. Likely, this reversed where the 380 and 335 would be.
I've never shot a 355 or 330. The 330 could be cocked by a # of people who couldn't begin to cock the Mini(#270 - it's a full #270!!!). The 330 is likely a gentle, deflexed xbow: the Mini335 isn't - it's a lot out of a small package.
The 380 and 405 are significantly more powerful, thus longer potential range capability than the Mini. With tweaking, I expect the Mini's accuracy would improve. The Mini is a class act! Beautiful, cute, accurate, compact, etc accurately describe the Mini.
I have a friend who says that his favorite pie is the one he's eating or the one that's available to eat. I pretty well feel that way about shooting these 4 xbows. I like them all, including the Exocet. Yet, when I'm ready to go hunt, the 405 will be the one being taken.

Good summary. I have shot, and cocked the 225# Mag Tip models, and all the 175# & 200#. The 225# is easier than the Micro, until that last inch! The 355 is easier all the way thru in my opinion, and it is still just a sweetie to shoot. I grab the Micro on my out to hunt though. Just killer accurate, and such a nimble crossbow in a treestand. I have not shot, or cocked a 405. I'm sure I can do it without too much pain, but I'm looking for easier these days. I will still use my 355 to hunt, but the Micro is the new toy this year, just to be honest.

What is the speed difference between the 330, 335, and the 355?

The Nightmare seems to be a bit faster than the camo Micro by about 5 FPS. The 330 Matrix gets about 334 avg. The 355 gets 355, some claim more, but they are using lighter strings.

1.1 inch groups at 50 yds with any hunting xbow out of the box, esp one that is so compact, is a screaming endorsement to me. I don't think anyone would expect better groups than the 380 or 405 anyhow,
I still cant wait to shoot a 405....great review, thanks for sharing.

ive owned a wolverine a vortex a 355 and now the micro. This micro is the most forgiving bow in regards to arrow and broadhead selection. It is also the most accurate bow to 40 (as far as ive shot) with broadheads ive owned. It is by far my favourite bow.
