Matrix 380/Zombie Accuracy

Post by SEW »

About a month ago I tried shooting 2 arrows with Xbow Tricks(175g) and 1 with an FOC(170g) to see impact point differences. Arrows: 18" Zombie, 26g AL inserts, helical Blazers, plastic moon nocks. I aimed at each of the 3 horizontal dots. The R & L dots were the Xbow tricks, center was FOC. 60 yds off of a benchrest set up. Note: 1) how consistent the Xbow Tricks are, 2) how accurate the Xbow/FOC is - what the xbow is sighted in with, and 3) how closely the 2 broadheads hit. The Xbow Trick hits about the same as the FOC to 60 yds, 1" low @70, and 2" low @ 80, 4" and 6" low at 90, and 100.
What other than an Excal could you even come up with such comparisons?

PS look at the penetration difference of the FOC vs the Xbow Tricks!

Looking good Steve! Some 22s don't get the accuracy that I see you're getting.

Steve mornin fine shootin. Yup those 4 blades don't penetrate that target as the 2 blade FOC does. I still have around 10 BH's i need to use up so i can get back to those of mine.

Steve,
considering your skill, at what distances do you feel comfortable shooting an average sized whitetail on level ground with no wind with your 405, 380, and 335???

Virtually every one of my stands have shooting rests. When hunting on the ground, I use shooting sticks or my knee. So I shoot off a stable stand.
From here on out, I'll be hunting coyotes, foxes and Bobcats. 100 yds for a stationary animal is ok with me. I use Xbow Tricks after I stop deer hunting. This requires a sligh xhair adj to the right and I overlay a different tape from 70-110 yds. The drops from 70-100 are less with the 405 .
The power difference is notable between the 380 and 405. Accuracy seems equal. The power difference between the 335 and the 2 Matrix bows is significant. The huge broad heads which work well with the higher power xbows may be inappropriate with the Mini.
If I had a Mini, I'd likely use a higher level Spitfire(125g) with the factory arrows or maybe a Spitfire Max. I set the bow up to shoot 125g expandibles.
With appropriate broadheads, I'd be comfortable with the Mini to 50-60 yds. The scope seemed adequate to me for a package scope.
I don't think the M380/405 and Mini335 are in competition with each other: kind of like 44 mag carbine vs a Win 300 Mag. Each will kill whatever is out there - just one farther than the other.

Sew, why do you use Xbow Tricks after you stop deer hunting? The penetration difference is notable between the FOC vs the Xbow Tricks!
