Serving destroyed after 200 shots

I got my axiom two days ago and have shot it 200 times. the serving has worn away and I can see the string underneath. I untwisted the string half a turn to get the other side but still I dont want to shoot It.

I am using the stock Excel string. Will a better serving last longer as I will buy a jig soon.

I was surprised as 355 380s and so on could get over 100 shots.

Is this typical for a stock string/serving?

Where you from? I'm sure someone here can get you fixed up. It is too hard to say if the string was bad, or if it got abused at the shop, etc. I won't say negative things about someones work, so it is most likely a fluke. Please don't let that incident give you the impression you got a bum deal, or went with the wrong brand crossbow. You will get this small incident resolved, and fall in love with that bow, no doubt!

You should twist your string the same way the serving is wrapped, and to use the other side of your serving, take your string off both limbs and flip it

Did you buy the bow new?
Have you had to adjust brace height at all and if so how have you been twisting the string?
Have you been using new arrows? Sometimes after a near robin hood the knocks get hit and create a rough spot on the nock that can wear a serving.
There may be a rough spot on the latch where it grabs the serving, check that out

I have a string from Excalibur that's still looks new with at least 250 shots on it
and its on a matrix 380 with a 2 stage triggertech..also have at least one string from most of the string makers here (all top of the line)..BUT I did start with a
string from the state of maine..first shot (endless) serving came off on loop maybe
6 shots center serving parted..sent it back and it came back repaired less than 6
shots center serving parted..sent it back dude sent me 2 strings all failed could not get 12 shots off them..sent them all back and moved on and the dude builds (famous vertical bow strings)..you wont go wrong here all my strings have been shot alot and look good as new..maybe your latch has a bur or you have rail snot

Thank you everyone it was partially my fault.

i bought it new at a shop, they set it up and put a couple of twists in it, THE WRONG WAY. After some shooting I changed the brace height a bit, I didn't bother to look but i just twisted it the way the shop had.

And way i fixed it now and the serving wear is nonexistent, its amazing.
I have been waxing every 30 shots.

i just cocked and the serving is worse. I got a bad string, dissapointing.

On the second go-round did the string get reserved or was it a new string.
Can you post a decent picture of the string at rest on the bow?
Did you twist the string counter clockwise (your aspect is looking at either end of the string)?

Im buying some serving material and replacing it.
In the meantime I just wrapped it with some dacron string. Looks good after 360 shots.

Had same thing happen to my stock string on my Axiom.

I would be looking for a burr or sharp edge on the "finger thingy" (technical term) that holds the string when cocked.

I shoot a Vix II and yes it's only pulling 150 pounds but I have "easily" at least 2000 shots with a factory flemish string and the serving still has a lot of life in it (and in reality I probably under estimated the shot count by at least 1000 - I shoot a lot).

The Axiom is only pulling 25 more pounds - it shouldn't be "eating" strings.

If it was a M405 I would expect expedited serving wear, but not one of the lower power bows.

Something is out of whack - just have to "CSI" it and figure out what it is..

It maybe m imagination but on my 330and the wifes 330 if the brace hight is set to short the string rubs harder on the rail. Just something to look at.

Still going strong after 450 shots with the dacron string wrapped around.
Getting the serving material soon.
