...my only question to those who stand by their GR's (again this is just my opinion) is why would you want something that takes a lot of brain cells and direction reading (which quite honestly I, like most men don't like to do) when,

...you have a VERY SIMILAR product in the Spitfires that all you have to do is screw them on to the arrow...no coller's nothing, blades sit tight and you be ready to hunt...and the end results almost 100% of the time is full deployment of the blades...nice entrance and exit hole and with proper placement....a nice short road to recovery!

I got some spares you are welcome to try whenever you would like to get together,,,some guys get caught up in the hype of expandables,,,they fly like field points,,,they have larger cutting diameters,,,well,,,thats all good and fine,,,but there is still more doubt and questions attatched to expandables,,,with the right fixed blade ,,,those questions are eliminated ,,,then it boils down to ,,,did you make the right kill shot or not?? As for me having tried both expandables and fixed blades,,Magnus Buzzcuts have where I have arrived,,,fly like field points,,,serrated edge,,hard to find a sharper edge ,,plus it is my opinion that a serrated edge is superior to a straight edge in the world of bowhunting,,,and you can't beat the warranty which I have taken advantage of many, many, times,,and for some ,,available in 150 grains  ,,,,,call me Steve,,,lets do it in the snow

Every deer I shoot with a bow and a double lung shot runs from 80 to 100 yards before dropping. I have shot a boatload of them and that is normal. It does not indicate a problem with a mechanical failing to open.
It sounds to me like the broadhead did it's job just fine.

Anthony not sure why yours fell apart so easy. 99% of the time mine come out of the pack ready to go, just screw them on. I just always double check to make sure the parts are all in place, easy to do after you have changed blades a few times.

The reason I like them better than spitfires is the blades do not fold up to the tip less chance of blades opening on the hide before the head enters the animal on quartering shots. Nothing against the spitfires I've just had such good luck with reapers they have become my go to head.

I have taken 10 deer in two years with GR mechanical BHs. Not a single issue with them opening or falling apart in my hands while putting on the shaft.

I also like them since I can replace the blades relatively easy which is much less expensive compared to complete BHs.

I had the same situation with G 5 T3 mechanical
I shot two deer, I could not find the first one, It was double lung shot behind a shoulder and I saw a pencil cut at 18 yards.
The second deer it lost all three blades. I found the deer but it went 120 yards.
Again double lung shot. Mecahnical will fail.

Everyone I hunt with has switched to Grim Reapers and they have worked flawlessly as long as you follow directions and screw them on correctly. We used lots of other expendable's and some of them would open when bow went off and actually bounce of the stirrup. I shot Spitfires for 2 years and switched to Grim Reapers with better results and shorter blood trails. Shot placement is still the most important thing.

i use Grims too. nothing but great results.the mechanics are simple with this broadhead but unless youve replaced blades or broken them down they can be a bit tricky. the last few packs ive bought they come with some kind of shrink tube that holds the whole assembly together. if you just have them bouncing around in a box they can come undone. the whole key to having them properly assembled and seated is the collar and small retention ring with the cut out in it. if the retention rings opening doesnt sit in the milled out area key slot your not gonna be happy. im guessing some who buy these just screw them together without looking. i will say the retention ring can have a mind of its own. when a head is off the arrow shaft it can turn a little and the blades can pop out.once on a arrow shaft though the compression spring wont let the ring move out of position.heres a video showing details. its says it takes only 1 pound of pressure to open the blades. if the head isisnt assembled properly i can see why it wouldnt open. if you look around 2:35 into it the gap in the ring is explained. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIpechah4rc
