Matrix 330 or Micro 335?

Post by Hawkeyemd »

If you had the choice, which one would you buy? The 330 is a tad lighter, doesn't come w/ADF or REDS. The micro 335 comes with booth, but costs $100.00 more! Help me out here! Thanks, Hawkeyemd

I have yet to get my Micro, (it's been a long wait, but this weekend she arrives!). But I have owned and shot a 330 for over a year. I would have to side with the Micro 335 for the reasons you posted alone, (REDS and ADF). The smaller platform and higher resale value are also a factors to consider.

To me, the 330 is going to be more durable simply because it has less draw weight. It is also less effort to cock it. The Micro is tough for some people to draw. My wife handles the 330, no problem. So physical condition is a factor.

Handle both and if you can, shoot both and decide for yourself. Don't let he $100 difference be your deciding factor because in the long run, that $100 won't be missed, IMO.

The 330 can be dressed out with the ADF and a string stop for another $100.00. One shoots 335 ft/sec and the other a tad less.
The end result to me is that the Micro is smaller so it carries better and not significantly faster. The 330 is like a 405 but throttled back a whole bunch and it isn't large at all. To me, the message is clear, do you want to buy something reasonable that is likely to give you less trouble or do you want that fancy little sports car that won't buy you more deer?
The 330 will be easier on your targets, arrows, string and your body. It is also a far better bow for repetitive cocking or the smaller person (your wife, kids etc).

I have never shot or owned a Micro they seem to be the latest n greatest. They have caused resale value on the Matrix models to fall jus a tad. They are smaller but thats it, they are no better, jus abit narrower. Of the 2 i would pick the 330, its all around easier on you to shoot n practice with unless yer the Hulk or Superman. In the end its yer money n yer desire so its yer call this one or that one!

I'm not all that enamoured with the Micro. I prefer the look of the Matrix line actually. Not to say that a Micro won't be in my future.

Side by side:
Micro speed 335 Matrix 330 speed 330
Micro weight 5.2 lbs Matrix 330 weight 5.1 lbs
Micro Length 32.5 inches Matrix 330 Length 33.9 inches
Micro draw wt 270 Matrix 330 draw wt 220

They are so close in many aspects except for the significantly higher draw wt for the Micro and the width of the Micro is 4.25 inches less than the Matrix cocked.

After hunting with an Exomax and a Relayer, the Matrix 330 is a way smaller package, the lightest of any crossbow Excalibur makes and only 1.4 inches longer than a Micro. It is a tough choice to make, you'll not regret either one.

My 330 with all the stuff added on after:

As long the size of 330 is ok I would take 355 over 335.
more speed from 355 and easy to load it anyway.
With 355 its about 15-20 fps gain over both 330 and 335
